چکیده
Dean Hildebrand manages the Cloud Storage Software team at the IBM Almaden Research Center and is a recognized expert in the field of distributed and parallel file systems. He has authored numerous scientific publications, created over 28 patents, and chaired and sat on the program committee of numerous conferences. Hildebrand pioneered pNFS, demonstrating the feasibility of providing standard and scalable access to any file system. He received a BSc in computer science from the University of British Columbia in 1998 and a PhD in computer science from the University of Michigan in 2007. [email protected]

P2P Network Trust Management Survey
Peer-to-peer applications (P2P) are no longer limited to home users, and start being accepted in academic and corporate environments. While file sharing and instant messaging applications are the most traditional examples, they are no longer the only ones benefiting from the potential advantages of P2P networks. For example, network file storage, data transmission, distributed computing, and co...
متن کاملE2DR: Energy Efficient Data Replication in Data Grid
Abstract— Data grids are an important branch of gird computing which provide mechanisms for the management of large volumes of distributed data. Energy efficiency has recently emerged as a hot topic in large distributed systems. The development of computing systems is traditionally focused on performance improvements driven by the demand of client's applications in scientific and business domai...
متن کاملVirtual Allocation: A Scheme for Flexible Storage Allocation
Traditional file systems allocate and tie up entire storage space at the time the file system is created. This creates a situation where one file system could be running out of space, while another file system has ample unused storage space. In such environment, storage management flexibility is seriously hampered. This paper presents virtual allocation, a scheme for flexible storage allocation...
متن کاملStupid File Systems Are Better
File systems were originally designed for hosts with only one disk. Over the past 20 years, a number of increasingly complicated changes have optimized the performance of file systems on a single disk. Over the same time, storage systems have advanced on their own, separated from file systems by the narrow block interface. Storage systems have increasingly employed parallelism and virtualizatio...
متن کاملMEDICAL IMAGE COMPRESSION: A REVIEW
Within recent years the use of medical images for diagnosis purposes has become necessity. The limitation in transmission and storage space also growing size of medical images has necessitated the need for efficient method, then image Compression is required as an efficient way to reduces irrelevant and redundancy of the image data in order to be able to store or transmits data. It also reduces...
متن کاملEfficient Cryptographic Techniques for Securing Storage Systems Thesis Proposal
With the advance of storage technologies to networked-attached storage, a recently emerging architecture that provides higher performance and availability than traditional direct-attached disks, new security concerns arise. In these environments, clients can no longer rely only on the storage servers to provide security guarantees, since these become now easier to compromise. In consequence, cl...
